vga project lab artist-in-residence
Aashina Singh is the inaugural VGA Project Lab Artist-In-Residence.
As a designer and researcher specializing in the intersection of physical and digital realms, Aashina Singh’s work explores the dynamic synergies of emotion, environment, and technology. Her practice, termed "Phy-gital Design," is a testament to the transformative power of integrating physical interactions with digital experiences to foster profound emotional and cognitive engagement.
Rooted in the theoretical framework of constructed emotions, Singh's projects challenge conventional perceptions and harness the often misunderstood energy of emotions like anger. By crafting immersive environments that physically engage participants, she aims to catalyze a deeper understanding and reevaluation of emotional experiences.
VGA hosts artists-in-residence on a rolling basis. Artists, designers, scholars, and video game developers are encouraged to contact us if they’re interested in activating the space and using the residency to develop a project or body of work. VGA facilitates studio visits, exhibitions, and workshops to aid new media practitioners in expanding their reach and realizing creative goals.
