Enjoy games, art, music, food, drinks at VGA Gallery and Bloomingdale Arts Building while supporting exhibitions and programs in VGA Gallery's 2018-2019 season. At the event, the VGA Global Illumination Award will be given to game developer and documentarian Josh Tsui for his rich contributions to the medium of video games, culminating in this year's release of Insert Coin: Inside Midway's 90s Revolution.
Global Illumination Award: Awarded to one individual each year by VGA Gallery, the Global Illumination Award honors the recipient for deep and significant contribution games and computational art. Past recipients include Katie Salen Tekinbas, John Teti, and Anna Anthropy.
Josh Tsui: Tsui is an accomplished Chicago-based game developer and documentarian who began his career at Midway Games in 1993. An industry veteran and leader in the Chicago game development community, Tsui has held leading roles at Midway, Studio Gigante, EA, and Robomodo. He holds credits for the following titles: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Tony Hawk: SHRED, Tony Hawk: RIDE, Fight Night Round 3, WWE WrestleMania 21, Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus, Mortal Kombat 4, Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, and NHL Open Ice 2 on 2 Challenge.
