Since 2013 VGA Gallery has collected two-dimensional prints related to significant works of video game art. To mark the five year anniversary of our continually growing archive this exhibition will mix the old and the new as well as the local and the international of video game art prints. Never presented as a substitution for the experience of real-time play, prints offer incredible value in the ongoing art history of video games. Whether they are a document of an artist’s process, a capture of a significant moment that might pass by quickly in live media, or a closer look at what is underneath the surface of games, prints expand and explode the highly concentrated storage of concepts and experiences packed into each title. Join VGA to look back on the past, engage in the present, and look forward to the next five years of supporting artists furthering the discipline of video game art.

VGA Gallery is generously supported by The MacArthur Funds for Arts and Culture at The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, a CityArts Grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events, the Gaylord & Dorothy Donnelly Foundation, the Illinois Arts Council Agency, individuals, and private and corporate foundations.
